In Police Quest: SWAT 2, it is your task to help guide a select team of SWAT members through various tasks. The player can use or control various items, like helicopters, K-9 units, explosive experts, snipers, armored vehicles, flash bangs, hand grenades, gasoline, and MP5 submachine gun.
Police Quest: SWAT 2 has a great selection of available weapons and items at each of the characters disposal. However, SWAT 2 becomes extraordinarily difficult to control each of the members of the SWAT team. You may find yourself throwing your hands up in the air as it becomes almost impossible to beat some levels because of the lack of control and poor AI.

The SWAT team is back for more action in the most well designed SWAT game in the SWAT series. In SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle, the player is introduced into the first-person viewable area, allowing them to get a more realistic view of what it means to be part of a SWAT team. You play through various levels with different tactics and goals and need to direct a team of five members (two red team and two blue team members, plus the player) throughout the scenario.
While SWAT is a first-person game, the game will not be as fast action as other popular first-person action games, such as Quake or Doom. However, like a real SWAT team, you must enter the premises slowly and cautiously as a couple shots can take an officer down. SWAT 3 does have its issues in the AI engine, where the player may need to take special care of his officers. If an officer is shot, your crew may follow the suspect without much caution, causing you to lose members. Despite the flaws, this game is still fun and, if you enjoy first-person shooting games or you enjoy acting out the role as a police officer or SWAT member, we highly recommend this game.

The successful SWAT series continues with SWAT 4, featuring excellent graphics technology, thanks to Unreal Engine 2.0 technology, which powers the Vengeance Engine used for this game.
In SWAT 4, the player leads a team of SWAT officers in the fictional city of Fairview, deviating from the previous SWAT games, which were set in Los Angeles. The player leads a five-man team through thirteen missions, each independent and not related to the others. The player can select between a number of lethal and non-lethal of weapons as well.
On February 28, 2006, an expansion was released, titled SWAT 4: The Stetchkov Syndicate. The expansion added seven new weapons, seven new missions, and two multi-player modes.
